Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC ("the Company")

Issue of Equity

The Company announces the allotment on 30 January 2006 of 100,000 Ordinary
shares of 25p each under its block listing facility.  The issued share capital
is now 31,386,208 Ordinary shares.

These shares were issued at a price of 293p per share.  The fully diluted net
asset value per share at the close of business on 27 January 2006 was 281.78p.
