Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC ("the Company")

Issue of Equity

The Company announces the allotment on 4 January 2006 of 125,000 Ordinary shares
of 25p each under its block listing facility.  The issued share capital is now
31,286,208 Ordinary shares.

These shares were issued at a price of 294p per share.  The fully diluted net
asset value per share at the close of business on 3 January 2006 was 276.41p.
