ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC (the "Company")

The Company announces that it has drawn down a further USD 9,700,000 under its £10,000,000 multi currency facility (the "Facility") with Barclays Bank plc.  A total of  USD 17,967,225 (equivalent to approximately £9.7 million) has now been drawn under the Facility.

Borrowings now represent 9.7% of net assets, based upon the undiluted net asset value per Ordinary share of 319.25p as at close on 22 September 2008.
