Standard Life plc ('the Company') has been advised today, by Capita IRG Trustees Limited, that Mr Alexander Hugh McCormack Begbie has exercised 4,572 options over ordinary shares of 10 pence each at an option price of £1.5746 per share. These options were granted under the Standard Life Sharesave Plan as approved by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on 17 May 2011.

Mr Alexander Hugh McCormack Begbie's total holding following the exercise, including those of persons connected to him, is 84,340 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company.
