Notification of Interests of Executive Directors and Other Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility ('PDMRs')

On 15 September 2011 the Company granted each of the Executive Directors and other Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility listed below options over its ordinary shares of 10p each ('Shares') under the Standard Life Sharesave Plan ('the Sharesave Plan'}, the terms of which were approved by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on 17 May 2011.

The option exercise price in respect of such options is £1.5746 being, in accordance with the rules of the Sharesave Plan, 20 per cent below the average of the mid market price of the Company's shares on the three dealing days prior to the invitation date of 22 August 2011.  Permitted exercise periods are for a period of six months running from 1 November 2014 to 30 April 2015 for the 3 year scheme, and from 1 November 2016 to 30 April 2017 for the 5 year scheme.

The table below also includes the total of outstanding shares awarded and options granted to each individual.
