Strategic Equity Capital PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of John
Cornish as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 6 September
2006.

Mr Cornish was formerly an audit partner at Deloitte & Touche where he led the
firm's investment trust team until his retirement in 2004. He is currently a
director of: Framlington Innovative Growth Trust PLC and Finsbury Technology
Trust PLC.

There are no further details required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule
9.6.13 (2) - (6).

John Hodson, Chairman of Strategic Equity Capital PLC commented, "We are
