                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 24 December 2012, the following ordinary shares
were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris Performance Share Plan:

750 shares at 5 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 7,612,379 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 117,392,744.
