             SPECTRIS PLC - APPOINTMENT OF NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR              

The Board of Directors of Spectris plc is pleased to announce the appointment
to the Board of Steve Blair as an executive director with effect from 7th
January 2013.

Steve joined Spectris in May 2011 as Business Group Director responsible for
the In-Line Instrumentation segment and certain Industrial Controls businesses
and is a member of the Executive Management team. Prior to joining Spectris, he
was at Invensys plc where he held the position of President, Invensys
Operations Management for North America.

Announcing the appointment, John Hughes, Chairman of Spectris said "I am
delighted to welcome Steve to the Board. Since joining Spectris, he has
demonstrated his abilities as the leader of our In-Line Instrumentation segment
and the Industrial Controls businesses for which he is responsible and has
established himself as an integral member of the group's senior management. I
am sure he will be a valuable addition to the Board."
