25 May, 2007 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS SECOND TRENT 700 ORDER FOR A330 FREIGHTER The Rolls-Royce Trent 700 has been selected by Avion Aircraft Trading to power eight Airbus A330-200 freighters in an order worth around $300 million at list prices. Deliveries to the Reykjavik-based leasing company are scheduled to begin in 2010. Avion's customers will be offered a TotalCare® long-term service agreement where Rolls-Royce will take full responsibility for engine management at an agreed dollar rate per flying hour. This order represents the second Trent 700 selection for the A330 freighter, with a total of 14 firm aircraft now on order with two customers. Steve Redden, Senior Vice President - Customer Business for Rolls-Royce, said: "The Trent 700 continues to be the most popular choice for A330 operators. With the new technology that is being introduced into the engine, Avion's customers will benefit from significantly improved fuel burn, in addition to the attributes that have made the engine the market leader." David Masson, Managing Director of Avion Aircraft Trading, added: "The A330 freighter, powered by the Trent 700, will be the best solution for our customers wanting a reliable and cost-effective widebody cargo aircraft." The Trent 700 is the most environmentally friendly engine on the A330. It is the quietest and cleanest option, with the greatest margin to CAEP 4 legislation. A programme of continuous improvement, involving the introduction of the latest Trent family technology to the Trent 700, will ensure it will offer increased benefits to customers, such as the lowest fuel burn of any engine on the A330 freighter. NOTE TO EDITORS: 1. The Trent 700 is the only engine on the A330 that has been specifically designed for the aircraft, resulting in better performance, reliability and maintenance costs. It is the market leader on the A330 with a 43 per cent share of orders and 37 customers and operators. 2. The Trent 700 was the first engine in the Trent family to enter service, in March 1995, and is the most powerful engine for the A330, with a maximum in-service thrust of 72,000lb. 3. Rolls-Royce is working hard to improve the environmental impact of its products. Each year Rolls-Royce, in collaboration with its partners, invests around £700 million on research and development, two thirds of which has the objective of reducing the environmental impact of its products. The primary technology investment area is aimed at reducing noise and emissions. 4. Avion Aircraft Trading specializes in trading and leasing wide body freighters. The trading portfolio since its formation in 2005 consists of 30 B747-400BCF/SF/F, B777-200LRF, A300-600RF, A330-200F freighters.
