Re Contract

14 March, 2008 EGYPTAIR SELECTS ROLLS-ROYCE TRENT 700 AND TOTALCARE FOR ADDITIONAL A330s EgyptAir has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 to power an additional fleet of up to eight Airbus A330s, due for delivery from 2011. Including a TotalCare® long-term services agreement, the contract is valued at around $500 million at list prices. The airline already operates a fleet of seven Trent 700-powered A330s and 16 Airbus A320-family aircraft powered by the V2500, which is made by the IAE (International Aero Engines) consortium in which Rolls-Royce is a leading shareholder. As part of the new agreement, Rolls-Royce has agreed to establish a jointly-owned management services company in Cairo. It will provide EgyptAir with support for its new engine workshop, as well as data management and technical and logistics services for engines, including the Trent 700 and V2500. Abdel Aziz Fadel, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir M&E said: "Our experience with the existing fleet of Trent 700-powered A330s has been excellent and we have been especially impressed with the engine's performance in the hot, sandy conditions we operate in at Cairo. Rolls-Royce has shown it is sensitive to our in-service support needs and we are delighted to be extending our existing relationship with the company through its involvement in our maintenance and overhaul facility." Jim Sheard, Senior Vice-President - Airlines, Rolls-Royce plc, added: "We have worked closely with EgyptAir to find a solution that meets their requirements and we're looking forward to a closer working relationship in the future. As the original equipment manufacturer, we are in the ideal position to provide an unrivalled level of support to customers throughout the lifetime of our products. This is a solution that works for all parties." The Trent 700 holds a dominant position on the A330 with a 53 per cent market share and has an unprecedented record of 100 per cent of follow-on orders from A330 customers. Including this agreement, 11 customers have placed additional orders for the Trent 700 following an initial fleet purchase. NOTE TO EDITORS: 1. The Trent 700 is the first engine in the successful Trent family and entered service in 1995. It is the most powerful engine for the A330, with a maximum in-service thrust of 72,000lb, and has been selected by 52 A330 customers and operators. It is also the quietest and cleanest option for the A330, with the greatest margin to CAEP 4 legislation. 2. Trent 700s have logged eight and a half million flying hours and almost two and a half million flights on 214 A330s. 3. The Trent 700 continues to be the engine of choice on the A330 and is growing its market share. In the next three years, approximately 60 per cent of A330 deliveries will be Trent 700-powered, and the number of Trent 700 engines delivered will be equivalent to 80 per cent of the entire number delivered to date. 4. A programme of continuous improvement, involving the introduction of the latest Trent family technology to the Trent 700, will ensure increased benefits to customers, such as the lowest fuel burn of any engine on the A330. 5. Rolls-Royce continues to invest in core technologies, products, people and capabilities with the objective of broadening and strengthening the product portfolio, improving efficiency and enhancing the environmental performance of its products. These investments create high barriers to entry. 6. Annual sales were £7.4 billion in 2007, of which 55 percent came from services revenues. The firm and announced order book is £45.9 billion, of which aftermarket services represent 30 percent, providing visibility of future levels of activity. 7. TotalCare, tailored for individual operators, offers a range of services from Rolls-Royce covering all aspects of asset management in support of its Civil Aerospace products. Building on the company's knowledge, experience and infrastructure, these services include elements such as predictive maintenance, logistics management, and global repair and overhaul offerings. TotalCare can remove uncertainties from engine management and improve operational reliability for operators through a mutually aligned business relationship.
