 ROLLS-ROYCE AND SINGAPORE AIRLINES SIGN TOTALCARE AGREEMENT FOR TRENT ENGINES 

Rolls-Royce and Singapore Airlines have signed a ten-year TotalCare agreement
covering in-service support for the Trent 500 engines powering the airline's
fleet of Airbus A340-500 aircraft.

The deal is the first TotalCare agreement for Singapore Airlines which has
placed firm orders for five of the ultra-long-distance A340-500s, three of
which are already in service on the world's longest commercial route -
Singapore to Los Angeles. The airline has options on a further five.

Nick Devall, Executive Vice President, Customer Business, Rolls-Royce, said:
"We're delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines as the sixth Trent 500 customer
to sign up to TotalCare.

"TotalCare contracts cover more than 60 per cent of the Trent fleet and this
agreement further underlines the appeal of such services, which transfer the
risk of fleet management away from airlines. Customers have complete budget
visibility through agreed cost per flying hour."

Mervyn Sirisena, Senior Vice-President (Engineering) of Singapore Airlines,
added: "Through this agreement, the cost of engine maintenance will be more
predictable but, more importantly, Rolls-Royce now has the vested interest to
develop more repair schemes to keep overhaul costs low, while ensuring the high
reliability of the engines. We are pleased that the service will involve our
joint venture engine overhaul facility, Singapore Aero Engine Services Limited
(SAESL)."

Singapore Airlines has the world's largest fleet of Trent 800-powered Boeing
777s and has chosen the Trent 900 for its Airbus A380s, for which it is also
the launch customer.

TotalCare has enjoyed widespread market acceptance with nearly 3,000
Rolls-Royce engines covered by such agreements. Sixty-three per cent of the
Trent fleet is handled through TotalCare agreements, while similar contracts
cover 90 per cent of Rolls-Royce regional jet engines.
