Appointment of new Non-Executive Directors

1 October 2002 RM appoints John Windeler and Professor Tim Brighouse as Non-Executive Directors RM plc, the UK's leading supplier of ICT software, systems and services to education establishments, has appointed John Windeler and Professor Tim Brighouse as Non-Executive Directors. Both John and Tim join RM's Board with immediate effect. John Windeler is currently Chairman of Alliance & Leicester plc and a Non-Executive Director of BMS Associates. He has extensive experience in international money and securities markets, formerly as Executive Vice President of Irving Trust Bank and at the National Australia Bank, where he was Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive of the UK insurance division. Professor Tim Brighouse is the former Chief Education Officer of Birmingham City Council, where he transformed a poorly-performing local education authority into one with an international reputation for educational excellence. He is also a Member of the Governing Council of the National College of School Leadership. From 1989 to 1994 he worked for National Australia Bank UK Ltd as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive - Insurance Division. John Windeler joined the Board of Alliance & Leicester in 1995 and became Deputy Chairman when it converted three years later. He led the transformation of the organisation from 1999, first as Chairman and then as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He was appointed Non-Executive Chairman in 2002. Biographical Details - Tim Brighouse Tim Brighouse taught History before becoming involved in educational administration in 1967. He was Deputy Chief Education Officer in the Inner-London Education Authority and was appointed Chief Education Officer in Oxford in 1978. From 1989 to 1993 he was Professor of Education at Keele University, and is editor and author of numerous books on education and education policy. In 1993 Tim was appointed Chief Education Officer in Brirmingham, a role that he held until his recent retirement. During his time in Birmingham he was also co-Vice-Chair of the Government's Standard Task Force (1997 - 1999) and a Member of the Governing Council of National College of School Leadership (2000 - present.) Tim was appointed Visiting Professor of Education at the Institute of Education, University of London in 2002.
