10th September 2003 Management Reorganisation Reckitt Benckiser Appoints Javed Ahmed, Area EVP North America & Australia Reckitt Benckiser plc (RB.L) today announced the appointment of Javed Ahmed as Executive Vice President North America and Australia and member of the Executive Committee. This follows the departure of Ken Stokes from the Company. Javed Ahmed is currently and remains Regional Director North America Household, a position he has filled since 2001. Previously, he was General Manager Northern Europe (UK & Scandinavia) and General Manager Canada. Before joining Reckitt Benckiser, Javed worked for Bain & Co. and Procter & Gamble. At the same time, Reckitt Benckiser is making some other changes to its organisational structure to reflect market development. These are: - * Creation of an Area covering all of Europe through combining the previous Eastern Europe region with Western Europe. Erhard Schoewel will now be EVP responsible for all of Europe. * Creation of an Area covering Asia, Africa Middle East and Latin America, combining all of the Company's lesser-developed markets into a single Area. Freddy Caspers will be EVP for this Developing Markets Area. * Following these changes, the streamlined Area that remains will consist of North America (Household and Food) and Australia New Zealand. Javed Ahmed will assume responsibility for this North America & Australia Area in addition to continuing his existing responsibility as Regional Director for the NA Household Business. These organisational changes are designed to better reflect changing market circumstances and in particular to combine markets with similar characteristics and challenges together. Commenting on these changes, Bart Becht, Chief Executive Officer of Reckitt Benckiser plc, said 'The organisational changes announced today will make for a more logical and efficient geographical structure for the Company, bringing countries with similar challenges and opportunities together under leadership most suited to further developing the Company. We believe the new structure will help to sustain and build on the performance of the Company in recent years. 'I pay tribute to the immense contribution that Ken Stokes has made in his 14 years with the Company in the creation of a world leading consumer goods company. We wish him and his family well for the future and thank him for all that he has done. 'We are delighted to have Javed assume responsibility for all of North America and Australia New Zealand in addition to his current responsibility for North America household. Javed's long experience of general management in the Company and his successful track record in the UK and more recently in North America make him well suited to the challenges.'
