Statement re Grant of Options

                               Grant of Options                                

Proteome Sciences plc ('the Company') today announces that on the 3 June it
granted options to C.D.J. Pearce and J.L. Malthouse to replace options under
the Proteome Sciences plc Executive Share Option Scheme (No. 2) which lapsed on
the 19 May, 2005, during which time the Company was in a close period.

The options, which are on similar terms to those which lapsed on the 19 May,
2005, are exercisable for a period of one month from the date of grant, except
if the Company enters into an unforeseen close period during that month in
which case the new options will be exercisable for a period of one month from
the end of that close period.

The options granted were as follows:
