Total Voting Rights

In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6, New
Star Investment Trust PLC ("the Company") hereby notifies the market that it
currently has 71,023,695 Ordinary shares in issue. Each of these shares carries
a single vote and the total number of voting rights in the Company is therefore
71,023,695. This figure should be used by shareholders of the Company as the
denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are
required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the
Company pursuant to the Financial Services Authority's Disclosure and
Transparency Rules.
