NEW STAR INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

The Company has today been informed that, as a result of the recent
reconstruction, Jupiter Asset Management Limited is now interested in a total
of 9,580,854 Ordinary shares of 1p each, representing 13.49% of the issued
class of capital (previously 32.67%).

Jupiter Asset Management Limited does not hold any shares beneficially, but
holds them as an investment manager acting on behalf of discretionary clients.
