MAJEDIE INVESTMENTS PLC

The Company has been advised that on 9 July 2004 Capco Trust Corporation
Limited, the Trustee of the Majedie Investments PLC Incentive Trust, purchased
10,000 ordinary 10p shares in the Company (representing 0.019% of the Company's
issued ordinary share capital). The shares were purchased at a price of £2.18
per share.

As a result of this transaction, the Majedie Investments PLC Incentive Trust
now holds 361,409 ordinary 10p shares (representing 0.69% of the Company's
issued ordinary share capital).
