                          TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES                          

In accordance with the provisions of Listing Rule 12.6.4, the Board of Hays plc
advises that on 11 January 2007 it transferred 176,230 Ordinary Shares
currently held in Treasury to satisfy the maturity of one of the Hays plc UK Sharesave Schemes.

Following this transfer, Hays plc holds 101,660,377 Ordinary Shares in
Treasury. The number of shares in issue is 1,462,436,189 (excluding treasury
shares).
