Transaction in Own Shares

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announces that on 04 December 2007 the
Company repurchased 273,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of
450.31 pence per share. The total number of ordinary 25p shares now in issue is
200,881,748.
