Transaction in Own Shares

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announces that on 10 July 2007 the Company
repurchased 80,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of 500.7 pence
per share. The total number of ordinary 25p shares now in issue is 205,104,748.
