Transaction in Own Shares

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announces that on 16 April 2007 the Company
repurchased 50,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of 490.154
pence per share. The total number of ordinary 25p shares now in issue is
214,556,748.
