In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 we
notify the market of the following:-

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc's issued share capital consists of
218,387,748 ordinary shares with voting rights. The Edinburgh Investment Trust
plc holds no shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in The Edinburgh Investment Trust
plc is 218,387,748.

The above figure (218,387,748) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to
notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, The Edinburgh
Investment Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
