HEADLINE: Declaration of second interim dividend

The Directors of The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announce that they have
declared a second interim dividend for the year ended 31 March 2009 of 4.75
pence per ordinary share, payable on 13 February 2009 to Ordinary Shareholders
on the register on 6 February 2009. The shares will be quoted ex-dividend on 4
February 2009.

The first interim dividend of 4.75 pence per share was paid on 28 November 2008
to shareholders on the Company's register on 14 November 2008 (ex dividend date
being 12 November 2008).
