Diageo plc (the "Company") announces that it received notification on 4 October
2006 for the purposes of Sections 198 to 208 of the Companies Act 1985, from
Barclays PLC ("Barclays") that as at 29 September 2006 Barclays had, through
its legal entities, decreased its interest in the Company's ordinary shares of
28 101/108 pence ("Ordinary Shares") to 94,335,665 Ordinary Shares,
representing 3.41 per cent. of the issued share capital. The issued share
capital of the Company as at 29 September 2006 was 2,766,997,158 excluding
277,541,939 Ordinary Shares held as Treasury Shares.
