                   Announcement on Power Generation of 2009                    

    Special Notice:

    The board of directors (the "Board") and all directors (the "Directors") of
the Company warrant that there are no false representations and misleading
statements contained in, or material omissions from, this announcement, and
severally and jointly accept the responsibility for the truthfulness, accuracy
and completeness of the content of this announcement.

    This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing
theListing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

    Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. (the "Company") announces
that, based on the preliminary statistics of the Company, as of 31 December
2009, total power generation of the Company and its subsidiaries (the "Group")
amounted to 141.8685 billion kWh, representing an increase of 11.98% when
compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Total on-grid power
generation of the Group amounted to 133.5523 billion kWh, representing an
increase of 12.13% when compared to the corresponding period of the previous
year.

    The increase in power generation of the Group for 2009 over the
correspondingperiod of the previous year was mainly attributable to an increase
in the capacity of the operational generating units of the Group. As of 31
December 2009, the capacity of the operational generating units of the Group
increasedby 5,645 MW compared to the corresponding period of 2008 due to new
construction and acquisition, among which the new capacity of coal-fired
generating units, hydropower generating units and wind power generating units
amounted to 4,660 MW, 735 MW and 250 MW, respectively.
