                     for the first THREE QUARTERS of 2012

The board of directors (the "Board") and all directors (the "Directors") of the
Company warrant that there are no false representations and misleading
statements contained in, or material omissions from this announcement, and
severally and jointly accept the responsibility for the truthfulness, accuracy
and completeness of the contents of this announcement.

This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing the
Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. (the "Company") announces that,
based on the Company's preliminary statistics, as of 30 September 2012, total
power generation of the Company and its subsidiaries (the "Group") amounted to
150.0866 billion kWh, representing an decrease of approximately 0.59% when
compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Total on-grid power
generation of the Group amounted to 141.9040 billion kWh, representing an
decrease of approximately 0.26% when compared to the corresponding period of
the previous year.

II. Brief Analysis on Power Generation
   
 1. As a result of adjustment on economic structure, slowdown of economic
    growth, decline on the growth of the total power utilization level from the
    whole society, as well as the plan of the Group to carry out maintenance of
    the Group's thermal power generation units, the average utilization hours
    of the Group's thermal power generation units declined, thereby leading to
    a decline in the power generation of part of the thermal generation units
    of the Company.
   
 2. The Group's hydro power generation units were affected by an increase in
    inflow water in the basin where the generation units are situated and the
    expansion in the capacity of the generation units on a year-to-year basis.
    The power generation by the hydropower generation units demonstrated an
    increase of approximately 41% on a year-to-year basis.
   
 3. Since the capacity and efficiency of the Group's wind power generation
    units were enhanced on a year-to-year basis, the wind power generation
    demonstrated an increase of approximately 61% on a year-to-year basis.
