FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 18 February 2004 CHEMRING GROUP PLC AWARD OF CONTRACTS TO COUNTERMEASURES DIVISION Chemring Group PLC ('Chemring') is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. ('Alloy Surfaces'), based in Chester Township, Philadelphia, has been awarded a $25 million contract by the US Department of Defense for the supply of special material infra-red decoys to protect Army helicopters and Air Force transport aircraft. Deliveries under the contract will be made over two years commencing in 2004. Alloy Surfaces has also recently received a $5.3m order for decoys from the US Navy. David Evans, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented: 'The $25 million contract for the US Army and Air Force is the largest single contract ever placed with Alloy Surfaces. The receipt of these two contracts, which increase Alloy Surfaces' order book to over $50 million, emphasises the importance of Alloy Surfaces' proprietary special material and infra-red decoys in protecting military aircraft, and further enhances Chemring's position as the leading supplier of infra-red expendable decoys to the US Department of Defense.'
