SMALL COMPANIES DIVIDEND TRUST PLC

The Company has been advised that Lord Lamont, a Director of the Company,
purchased on 9 October 2009, 135 Ordinary shares at a price of 74.74p each. The
shares were purchased via a dividend reinvestment arrangement.

In addition the Company was also advised today that Lord Lamont has purchased
3,100 Ordinary shares at a price of 78.00p.

Lord Lamont's notifiable interest in the Company's shares now totals 14,690
Ordinary shares, representing 0.09% of the issued share capital.
