TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

In conformity with the Transparency Directive we would like to notify the
market of the following:

As at 4 April 2013, BlackRock Latin American Investment Trust plc's capital
consists of 39,361,585 Ordinary Shares of 10 cents each (excluding treasury
shares), carrying one vote each and 64,000 bonds of US$1,000 each with no
voting rights (although these shares are considered "qualifying financial
instruments" in accordance with the revised DTR 5). The Company also holds
2,287,662 ordinary shares in treasury.

As at 4 April 2013, the total number of voting rights for Ordinary shareholders
in BlackRock Latin American Investment Trust plc is 39,361,585.

The above figure (39,361,585) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to
notify their interest in, or a change to, their interest in BlackRock Latin
American Investment Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency
Rules.
