Conversion of Securities

BLACKROCK LATIN AMERICAN INVESTMENT TRUST PLC                 

    Conversion of 3.5% Unsecured Convertible Bonds due 2015 (the "Bonds")      

The Board of BlackRock Latin American Investment Trust PLC announces
that subject to listing, it today issued 3,563 ordinary shares following the
exercise of conversion rights by holders of Bonds. The ordinary shares will
rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares.

It is expected that admission to the Official List and commencement of dealings
in the ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange will take place at 
8.00a.m. on 8 November 2010.

Following admission, there will be 43,839,085 ordinary shares and 79,968 Bonds
in issue.
