Conversion of Subscription Shares

The Board of BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc announces that today
it issued, subject to listing, 235,451 Ordinary Shares following the exercise
of Subscription Share Rights by 122 holders of Subscription Shares. The
Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares.

It is expected that admission to the Official List and commencement of dealings
in the Ordinary Shares on the London Stock Exchange will take place at 
8.00 a.m. on 11 February 2011.

Following admission, there will be 100,106,492 Ordinary Shares (including
2,898,166 Ordinary Shares held in treasury) and 18,742,451 Subscription Shares
in issue.
