                     Appointment of non-executive director                     

Bisichi Mining PLC, the mining company, announces today the appointment of
Thomas M. Kearney as a non-executive director of the company.

Mr Kearney is a Vice President and Partner of Herakles Capital, a US based
venture capital and industrial development partnership, a position he has held
since December 2001. Prior to that Mr Kearney worked for Enron Europe Limited
and was responsible for developing Enron's international coal trading and
transport business in Europe and South Africa. From 1993 - 1996, Mr Kearney
served as the Energy Sector Operations Officer for the World Bank in Kiev,
Ukraine; he is a graduate of John Hopkins University (MA, International
Relations & Economics 1991) and Harvard College (BA, Slavic Languages &
Literature, 1987).

Commenting, Michael Heller, chairman of Bisichi Mining said:

'With the growing importance to the company of our direct coal mining business
in South Africa and the new opportunities that are arising there, we are
pleased that Tom Kearney has agreed to join the board. I am sure that the
