Following recent press comment about the future of Chief Executive, George
Burnett, Ashtead confirms that, as shareholders would expect, the company keeps
the succession plans for all its senior roles under regular review to ensure an
orderly transition of responsibility at the appropriate time. George Burnett is
involved in all aspects of the company's succession planning.

Any decisions that are taken about succession to any board position will be
announced to the market in the usual way, as and when they are made.
