                        APPOINTMENT OF NEW BROKERS AND                         

                          SECOND QUARTER RESULTS DATE                          

Following a thorough review by the Board, Ashtead Group PLC has appointed UBS
and Hoare Govett as its joint brokers with immediate effect.

Ashtead also confirms that it will announce its second quarter results on
Tuesday 11 December.
