Tate & Lyle ('the Company') announces that it was informed on Monday 7 June 2004
that Mr Simon Gifford, an executive director of the Company, had been informed
on Friday 5 June 2004 that a decree absolute had been issued on Thursday 27 May
2004 in respect of his divorce. As a result, he is no longer interested in
80,601 shares of the Company (these shares being held by his former wife). Mr
Gifford is now beneficially interested in 80,720 ordinary shares in the Company.
