Director/PDMR Shareholding

Tate & Lyle PLC (the 'Company') announces that it was notified on 5 August 2005
by the persons whose names are set out below that on 5 August 2005 they
purchased ordinary shares in the capital of the Company ('shares') and were
awarded conditional rights to receive additional shares free of charge
('matching shares') under the Tate & Lyle Deferred Bonus Share Plan (subject to
the satisfaction of a performance condition) as follows:
