Board Changes

Appointment of Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen as an independent Director

Smurfit Kappa Group plc (“SKG” or the “Group”), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of paper-based packaging products, with operations in Europe and the Americas, announces the appointment of Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen to the Board as an independent non-executive Director with immediate effect.

In addition, non-executive Director’s Thomas Brodin and Gary McGann have indicated to the Board they will not seek re-election at the Group’s AGM to be held on 5 May 2017 and will step down from the Board on that date.

Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen

Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen was President and CEO of Carlsberg Group from 2007 to 2015. Appointed to the Executive Board of Carlsberg A/S in 2006, he previously held senior positions covering Western, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia in several global FMCG companies, including Gillette Group, Duracell, Mars and Unilever.

He is Chairman of Novozymes AS, a biotechnology company and Chairman of Uhrenholt AS, a global food wholesaling company.
