                           TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Amlin plc ('Amlin') announces that on 13 October 2008 it transferred from
treasury to participants in its employee share option scheme(s), the following
number of its ordinary shares of 28.125 pence each ('ordinary shares'):

5,856 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 110.82 pence per share
12,561 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 152.85 pence per share
16,799 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 161.77 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of
10,235,125 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 468,338,314 ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
