                    UPDATE ON ISSUED SHARE CAPITAL

Following the company's Rights Issue, which closed on 25 November 2005,
127,805,073 New Ordinary Shares of 25p each have been issued today resulting in
an issued share capital for Amlin plc of 529,480,499 Ordinary Shares of 25p
each.

The New Ordinary Shares rank pari passu in all respects with Amlin plc Ordinary
Shares of 25p each in issue at 31 October 2005, including the right to receive
all dividends or other distributions made, paid or declared after 2 November
2005, except that they do not rank for the final dividend in respect of the year
ending 31 December 2005 which is expected to be paid in May 2006.
