                             Director's shareholding

Mr Tony Holt, a Director, has informed the Company that on 26 March 2008 he sold
in the market (on the London Stock Exchange) 1,072,436 Amlin ordinary shares
(0.22% of the shares in issue) at a price of 264.76p per share. The resultant
shareholdings of Mr Holt and his wife were thereby reduced to 1,095,382 Amlin
ordinary shares (0.23%).

Mr Holt has stated to the Company that the principal reason for this share sale
was the increase in his effective capital gains tax rate after 5 April 2008 from
10% to 18%. Mr Holt has a substantial capital gain on his shareholding.
