                APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR TO EXTERNAL DIRECTORSHIP

Amlin plc announces that Mr Richard Hextall, its Finance Director, has been
appointed with effect from 1 November 2007 as a non-executive director of The
City of London Investment Trust plc ('City of London'), which is listed on the
London Stock Exchange. This has already been announced by City of London and
this subsequent announcement by Amlin is made pursuant to its obligations under
Listing Rule 9.6.14R (2).
