Senior Appointments

                        SABMiller - Senior Appointments

London and Johannesburg, 17 July 2006.  SABMiller plc announced today that
Norman Adami, currently President and CEO of Miller Brewing Company, has been
promoted to the position of President and CEO of SABMiller Americas, effective 1
August 2006.

In his new role, Adami will assume overall strategic responsibility for
SABMiller's existing businesses in North, Central and South America.  These
businesses are expected to account for almost 40% of group volumes and 50% of
sales revenues this fiscal year, and Adami's mandate is to ensure the
appropriate strategies are in place to deliver sustainable, long-term growth.

Tom Long, currently Chief Marketing Officer of Miller, has been appointed as
President and Chief Executive Officer of Miller, reporting to Adami. Long will
also join the SABMiller plc Executive Committee, effective 1 August 2006.   The
announcement of a Chief Marketing Officer and additional appointments at Miller
will be made later today from Milwaukee.

Barry Smith, President of SABMiller South America remains a member of the
SABMiller plc Executive Committee and will report to Adami in his new capacity.
Trent Odgers, Managing Director of SABMiller Central America continues to report
to Adami.

Gary Whitlie, the Managing Director of Miller Brands (UK) Limited, the
subsidiary managing the Company's International Brands in the UK market,
currently reporting to Adami, will now report to Alan Clark, Managing Director
of Europe.

Commenting on the new appointments Graham Mackay Chief Executive said:   'I am
confident that these changes further enhance our management capacity in Miller,
the Americas and the Group as a whole.'

About Norman Adami

Norman Adami was appointed president and chief executive officer of the Miller
Brewing Company in February 2003. Adami has spent virtually his entire career in
the beer industry. Adami joined SAB Ltd. in South Africa in 1979, and was
quickly promoted to a number of increasingly senior positions before ultimately
being appointed managing director in 1994.  In 1995, he was appointed to the
board of SAB plc and appointed chairman of South African Breweries Ltd. in 2000.
During the nine years he led SAB Ltd, Adami was credited with growing the
company's market share in South Africa to unprecedented heights.  In addition to
serving as a member of the SABMiller plc executive committee, Adami also serves
on many corporate boards, including those of several SAB subsidiaries.  He is
also a board member of the SA Foundation.  Adami holds a master's degree in
business administration from the University of Witwatersrand and an honours
degree in business from the University of Cape Town.

About Tom Long

Tom Long was appointed chief marketing officer of Miller Brewing Company in July
2005.  During his career, Long has held senior positions in beverage sales,
marketing and general management, working in more than 60 countries. He came to
Miller from The Coca-Cola Company, where he most recently served as president of
Coca-Cola Northwest Europe Division, Coca-Cola's largest division in Europe and
the third largest in the Coca-Cola system worldwide. Prior to that, he served as
president of Coca-Cola Great Britain & Ireland. Long joined The Coca-Cola
Company in 1988 and held a variety of management positions during his tenure
including: vice president - 7-Eleven Account Team Worldwide; vice president -
Wal*Mart Global Account, vice president of National Sales; vice president and
director - Presearch, Research and Trends; and vice president and director -
Global Strategic Marketing. Prior to graduate school, Long worked at Gulf &
Western, McCann Erickson and Goldman Sachs. Long holds a master's degree from
Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and a bachelor's
degree from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.
