Konkola Copper Mines
Vedanta Resources, the London listed metals and mining company, notes that the
President of the Republic of Zambia this weekend discussed the considerable
potential growth of the Konkola Copper Mines in a public speech.
The speech mentioned the possibility of increasing capacity at the Nkana smelter
and the future development of Konkola underground mine.
Vedanta sees considerable potential to improve the existing operations at
Konkola and develop these assets. Plans are underway to expand the smelting
capacity at Nkana and engineering studies are taking place at Konkola
