PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

23 April 2003

YORKSHIRE GROUP PLC ('YORKSHIRE', 'COMPANY', OR 'GROUP')

DISPOSAL OF PROPERTY

Yorkshire announces today that it has exchanged contracts with Peter de Campo ('
PDC') for the sale of its freehold property at 1-13 Rooney Street, Burnley,
Australia (the 'Property') (the 'Disposal'). The Disposal forms part of the
Company's ongoing strategy of reducing debt through the pursuit of asset
disposals and follows the sale of the adjacent car park announced on 27 March
2003.

Contracts in relation to the Disposal have been exchanged with PDC for a cash
consideration of A$2.5 million (approximately £984,250 where £1 is assumed to be
equivalent to A$2.54), of which A$250,000 (approximately £98,425) was paid on
exchange of contracts with the balance becoming payable on completion. The last
valuation of this property conducted in August 1998 valued it at between A$1.9m
and A$2.2m (approximately £748,000 to £866,150).

The Property has to date been used as the Company's sales and manufacturing site
in Australia. Following completion of the Disposal, the Company will close its
manufacturing operations in Australia and will relocate its sales operations to
an alternative site.

On completion, the proceeds of the Disposal will be used to reduce Group
indebtedness.
