talkSPORT BREAKS NEW RECORDS FOR
REACH, HOURS AND MARKET SHARE
talkSPORT, the UK's only national commercial sports radio station owned by The
Wireless Group plc, achieved its highest ever figures for weekly reach, total
hours listened and market share, according to the latest RAJAR official radio
audience figures issued today.
The station reached a record 2.428 million listeners per week (up 8% year on
year) and achieved 18.8 million hours listened (up 5.1% year on year),
increasing its market share to 1.7%. talkSPORT's male audience, 76.3% of the
station's total audience, reached an all-time high of 1.85 million.
These record results, which cover the first quarter (January, February and
March) of 2002, are the highest since the station launched as talkSPORT in
The station's No-Nonsense Sports Breakfast show with ex-footballer Alan Brazil
and former Fleet Street journalist Mike Parry has achieved a weekly reach of
more than 1 million from Monday to Friday, a first for the station since it
began as Talk Radio seven years ago.
