Sprue Aegis Plc

Pre-close trading update

10 July 2013

                                Sprue Aegis plc
                          ("Sprue" or the "Company")

                           Pre-close trading update

Sprue, one of Europe's leading home safety products suppliers, today issues a
pre-close trading update ahead of its unaudited interim results for the six
months ended 30 June 2013, which will be announced on Tuesday 24 September 2013.

2013 has seen Sprue's strongest ever trading start to a year, reflected in
sales expected to be reported in the first half of the year of £21.4m, up 28%
on the same period last year (H1 2012: £16.7m). Sales have benefitted from
significant contracts awarded in the second half of last year, including B&Q,
British Gas and Baxi which is part of BDR Thermea, one of Europe's largest
boiler manufacturers. In addition, Continental Europe has also seen strong
demand largely on the back of higher sales of the Group's award winning ST-620
Thermotek smoke alarm.

As expected, gross margin has declined slightly compared to H1 2012 principally
due to changes in sales mix although operating profit is expected to be
significantly higher than H1 2012 benefiting from operational leverage and
tight control over fixed costs.

The Company reaffirms its commitment to continue to develop its own technology
and to focus on delivering innovative, market leading home safety products to
position itself as the market leader in each of the markets it serves.

The Company's forward order book has never been so strong and Sprue remains on
course to deliver results for the year that are in line with market

                                   - Ends -

The Directors of the issuer accept responsibility for this statement.
