Urenco Group ("Urenco"), is making the following statement:
In the autumn 2024, a Written Parliamentary Notification was published by the UK Government about its intention to explore options to re-establish a nuclear fuel cycle to produce reactor fuel for defence purposes. In the notification, the Government stated that it is commencing engagement with industry to develop options for how this requirement can be delivered.
Urenco has been contacted and is required to support the nuclear fuels programme following a formal request from the UK government, which is also a shareholder.
Urenco's involvement will potentially support the re-establishment of reactor fuel production for defence purposes.
Urenco will continue to be focused on enabling the sustainable generation of electricity for consumers around the world within a framework of high environmental, social and corporate responsibility standards. All operations are and will be conducted in strict compliance with our legal obligations and regulatory requirements.
