                 Gustavo Poyet Joins Spurs on 3 Year Contract



The Board of Tottenham Hotspur plc announces that it has signed a three year
contract with Uruguayan midfielder Gustavo Poyet (33) who joins Tottenham
Hotspur Football Club with immediate effect from Chelsea FC.  Gustavo joined
Chelsea in July 1997 from Spanish Club Real Zaragoza where he was captain.  He
has 25 international caps for Uruguay.
