Notice of half-year results and interim dividend

NOTICE OF MEETING TO DECLARE AN INTERIM DIVIDEND AND ANNOUNCE RESULTS FOR THE HALF-YEAR
On Wednesday 23 March 2011 a committee of the Board is expected to declare an interim dividend on the ordinary share capital and announce the financial results of the Company for the half-year ended 29 January 2011. The 2011 Interim Report for the half-year will be released to the London Stock Exchange and made available on the Company's website, www.smiths.com, and to the UK Financial Services Authority National Storage Mechanism website, www.hemscott.com/nsm.do, at the same time. The Company will not produce printed copies of the Report.
Subject to the declaration of a dividend, the 'ex-dividend' date will be 30 March 2011; the record date will be 1 April 2011; and the dividend payment date will be 21 April 2011.
