                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 1 August 2007 it purchased for cancellation
6,000,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 545.03 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2007, Man has repurchased
29,360,018 ordinary shares at a total cost of £170.0 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 578.97 pence per ordinary share.
